This is the last large parcel of land bordering Buena Vista City Limits available for development. This 200 Acres also borders Hundreds of Acres of State Lands to the south that will never be developed. That land is called Maxwell Park and has an abundance of Wildlife. Elk Deer Moose and Antelope. To the West is the Chicago Ranch Open Space, 440 acres owned by the city of Buena Vista with hiking/biking trails and various parks planned within this area. This land is part of the historic "Chicago Ranch", once a Pioneer Ranch in the Valley, it is now sitting in the path of progress. Less than 20% of Chafee County is privately owned property and very little of it is here at the north end of the Valley. Over 80% of Chaffee County is public lands, mostly National Forests, BLM lands and State Conservancy Lands. This is a full blown Resort Area in the Mountains of Central Colorado. Over 23% of the residential properties here are second homes or vacation rentals. Now that more people are able to work remotely, we see that people are able to make Chaffee County their primary residence. The weather here is mild year round. This land is in position to be developed into the south end of Buena Vista with residential and commercial areas.
